Gum Disease and Gum Treatment

What is it? Periodontal (gum) diseases, including gingivitis and periodontitis, are serious infections that, left untreated, can lead to tooth loss. It is a chronic bacterial infection that affects the gums and bone supporting the teeth. Gum Treatment can slow or stop the progression of gum disease. Why is it done? Gum Treatment will save your teeth, or slow down their loss. We will give advice on oral hygiene, clean plaque and tarter from teeth and treat gum disease.Find Out More

LASER Cavity Scanner

Laser Cavity Scanner

Research has shown that dentists miss 70% of the most common type of decay. However, we’re fortunate, today, that we now have this (it’s called the Laser Diagnodent) an FDA approved laser cavity scanner.

Why is it used?
Now we are able to identify cavities when they are in their earliest stages… when they are small, EASY to fix, and least expensive to fix as well. Well before a painful cavity develops. This is all part of the minimal invasive dentistry philosophy.Find Out More

Minimally Invasive Dentistry

Minimally Invasive Dentistry

What is it? This is about a new way of thinking about the treatment of tooth decay. We can treat early decay with “medicine” rather than physically removing the decay. This partly relies on the use of the laser cavity scanner which can identify 100% of decay even at very early stages before it is visible to the eye.

Why is it done? Minimally invasive dentistry preserves tooth structure so less work is done on the tooth in its lifetime. Once a tooth is drilled and filled it will always need treatment, we are trying to avoid this cycle by curing the infection before it causes structural damage.Find Out More

Root Canal Work

Root-Canal Treatment

What is it? A Root-Canal removes the pulp of the tooth, including the nerve and blood supply from a decay or damaged tooth. A local anesthetic is used and it will feel the same as having an ordinary filling done. If it is left untreated the pulp becomes infected and may spread eventually leading to an abscess. If left untreated the infection will spread and the tooth may need to be removed.

Why is it done? Root-Canal Treatment eliminates pain from the decay or damaged tooth which may have resulted in an abscess or swollen pulp and is the stage before a crown is placed on top as a cover.Find Out More

Bruxism Treatment

Treatment of Bruxism

What is it? Bruxism is the medical term for grinding, gnashing or clenching your teeth which is usually done subconsciously. This can lead to jaw disorders, headaches, damaged, breaking and sensitive teeth and other problems. Unfortunately, most people aren’t aware of the habit, so they aren’t diagnosed with the condition until complications occur. It is a complex problem which may need a multifaceted solution. Splint therapy is the usual treatment.

Why is it done? This protects the teeth from wearing out. Find Out More
