Porcelain Veneers

What is it? A wafer thin sliver of porcelain is cemented to the front of a tooth. This technique is an elegant and versatile way to improve your smile. It requires the dentist to be use a balance of artistry and skill to design a tooth which will create a smile complimentary to the patient’s mouth.

Why is it done? Porcelain veneers transform a smile and are usually used to cosmetically enhance the appearance of teeth, correct crooked teeth or to improve the colour of teeth.

To do a veneer, the front of the tooth usually needs to be shaved down by approx 1mm. This is an IRREVERSIBLE process where healthy tooth is removed. Once the tooth has been shaved down an impression is taken of the tooth. The impression is sent to a laboratory where a porcelain veneer is made. Involves 3-4 visits.
